Ousted congregation moves to Baptist church

Church of the Good Shepherd Anglican, which was ousted from its Conklin Avenue building last week, will worship in the gymnasium of Conklin Avenue Baptist Church, 91 Baldwin St., Binghamton.

Worship services will be held at 8 and 10:30 a.m. each Sunday, with Christian education at 9:15 a.m.

A state Supreme Court judge ruled Good Shepherd must vacate its properties after the regional Episcopal diocese challenged the congregation’s attempt to keep its church building and rectory.

Ah, yes, the spin continues.

The congregation was not ousted: they lost the law suit they brought against the owners of the buildings.

Following that, the the diocese gave them more than two months to make arrangements. That is hardly "ousted."

More Good Stuff in TEC!

"Spin"?

1. The Episcopal Diocese of Central New York filed a lawsuit seeking the Good Shepherd property. They were the plaintiffs. Good Shepherd did not sue the diocese.

2. "not ousted"? Ousted : removed, ejected, dispossessed. When someone goes to court and sues to get you off the property, and wins, and you are forced to leave, I think that is the very definition of "ousted".
