Priest resigns over bullying claim

The Ballarat church leader at the centre of a bullying investigation has announced his resignation.

Anglican Bishop Michael Hough is being investigated by the Episcopal Standards Committee after accusations of harassment and bullying.

Bishop Hough is currently on at least one month's sick leave.

The parish priest of the Hamilton Anglican Church Father Richard Silk says a lot of people are saddened by the resignation.

"We're just kind of breathing in and taking in what's happened," he said.

"I would say in a way there's a sense of almost like a time of grief or grieving that we're just having to cope with as we come to terms with what's been decided."

Bullying in the Episcopal Church? My priest, Fr. Robert H. Malm of Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria VA, has been bullying me and my family for more that a year now, and so far the wardens and vestry not only turn a blind eye, they support Bob's actions. Then we wonder why organized religion is dying?

Big surprise there.
