Walsingham prepares for big birthday

From England-

ONE of the highlights of the Walsingham year takes place at the start of next month

From August 1-5 the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage year celebrates the 950th anniversary of the vision which led to the founding of the Holy House.

The Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham will be celebrating its Big Birthday and is preparing to welcome young people from all over the country.

Plenty of activity is scheduled for the young people – aged 11 and over – to keep them engaged and entertained throughout the week.

Bishop Lindsay Urwin OGS, Administrator of The Shrine, said: “We are really looking forward to the Youth Pilgrimage.

“It’s going to be a super time for sure and we always receive as much from the young people as we try to give to them.

“They are encouraging and an example to us all.”
