Good Stuff in TEC: North Carolina

Food collection exceeds expectations

Area Boy Scouts., Cub Scouts, and Explorers spent a good portion of their Saturday gathering up truck loads of food, then distributing the donations to local food pantries.

The effort is known as Scouting for Food and is a stewardship project carried out by the three groups throughout the community.

Empty bags were distributed throughout the area last Saturday. Citizens were asked to fill the bags and leave them on their doorsteps for the scouts to pick up Saturday morning.

“I’m well pleased,” said Boy Scout Troop 538 Scout Master Phillip Hart. “The bags are fuller this year,” he said as he unloaded the food from a truck into the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church.
