Good Stuff in TEC: Massachusetts

‘Communion Camp’

A different kind of First Communion Instruction for children will take place at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday afternoon, May 2, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children will learn about this sacrament of the church by baking bread, making crafts, sharing stories, and playing games. The afternoon will conclude with a dinner for all the children and their families.

Children who attend the afternoon activities will make their first Holy Communion the next day, at a special family-friendly worship service on Sunday, May 3, at 10 a.m. To register, call Grace Episcopal Church at 781-762-0959. All are welcome.

“We want children to feel the joy of being part of God’s family,” said Rev. Kate Ekrem, Grace Church’s priest, “so we show the children the meaning of sharing in Holy Communion in fun ways, and talk about how it’s like our own family meal celebrations. And we teach lessons about Jesus and his Last Supper through skits and storytelling so it’s really fun. But the part the kids always like best is getting the behind-the-scenes tour of the sacristy and altar, and getting to see all the beautiful altar things up close. Of course they also love kneading the bread dough!”
So come and learn about First Communion at Grace Church; all are welcome.
