John and Blanche have been friends for a long time. John is a priest here and we were in Seminary together. Our prayers are with them both and with everyone touched by this tragedy.
THREE LAKES - An 18-year-old camp counselor is found dead at a Three Lakes camp.
According to LaTonya Taylor, Director of Media Relations at Wheaton College, the counselor is 18-year-old Alex Heidengren.
Taylor says Heidengren is a sophomore at Wheaton College and was participating in the Summer Leadership School program at Honey Rock Camp in Three Lakes.
The Three Lakes Police Department says they recieved a report of a missing male counselor just before 11:00am on Saturday.
Seven departments and volunteers worked to find Heidengren.
Shortly before 9:30 pm, the Oneida County Dive Team found Heidengren in Long Lake using sonar and camera device.
The Three Lakes Police Department and the Oneida County Medical Examiners Office are are waiting for toxicology reports to determine the cause of death.
