From Nigeria-
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Asaba, Most Rev Justus Mogekwu, has called on the Chiefs and inhabitants of Ogwashi-Uku to do away with the worship of deities.Mogekwu, who gave the advise at the annual ‘’Ogwashi-Uku prays’’, a yearly fasting and prayer session by the people of Ogwashi-Uku community, also advised them against joining secret societies. He said that God, though a compassionate God, wants both the traditional rulers, chiefs, indigenes and non-indigenes to turn from their old ways and have respect for peace, love and justice. He said that God had started His work of restoration in the community, but that all should embrace Christianity and do away with retrogressive beliefs capable of setting the community backward. The bishop, who spoke on the theme: ‘’Divine Resolution 2012’’, also called on the opinion leaders of the town and the inhabitants to work in the Christian principles of truth, love and justice.Mogekwu commended the community development union as well as the believers union on their initiating the programme, which he said, was an idea conceived for the liberation of the community.More here-
