A
conservative evangelical wing of the Anglican communion, GAFCON, has
confirmed that their representatives will not attend the global meeting
of Anglican bishops in a year's time.
Current Church of England doctrine states that clergy cannot conduct a same-sex wedding and the rules on whether clergy can marry a same-sex partner varies in different countries, with the Episcopal Church in the US allowing same-sex marriage since 2015, but in England only civil partnerships are allowed, on the assumption that they remain celibate, and marriage is not.

Jim: It seems to me there needs to be some clarification here. The article says GAFCON has confirmed that their "representatives" (presumably the observers) will not attend the Lambeth Conference next year, yet there is no citation, evidence or confirmation of this assertion. When, where, and how did GAFCON make such a statement? In the video, Beach does not say this. He says the GAFCON primates sent a letter to Welby and are awaiting a response. Thus, there is a disconnect between the assertion of a boycott and the words of Beach. This article should be taken with a grain of salt until we get evidence of the central assertion promoted in the article.
