In Christian Circles, the Debate Over Leggings and Female Butts Has Been Raging With Special Urgency

From Slate-

Among some fashion observers, leggings have been regarded for a while now as the “new jeans.” For years, American consumers have been buying less and less denim in favor of stretchy, sleek “athleisure.” In 2017, imports of stretchy knit pants exceeded blue jeans for the first time. Accommodating and comfy, the stretchy pants created for exercise are now the downtime uniform for the modern woman. Leggings won.

So why haven’t we stopped fighting about them? This week, a new skirmish in the leggings war erupted in South Bend, Indiana, where a churchgoer named Maryann White wrote a letter to the editor of the Notre Dame student newspaper after sitting behind a group of young women wearing “very snug-fitting leggings” at a Catholic Mass. White, the mother of four sons, was moved to contemplate the impact of this “unforgiving garment” on the moral development of her sons. “I’ve heard women say that they like leggings because they’re ‘comfortable,’ ” she wrote. “So are pajamas. So is nakedness.”

Parish Fashion Week: Vicars strut down the aisle as they show off colourful new robes

From the "You Can't Make This Stuff Up" Department- (UK Division) Video too!

The very latest Parish fashions were modelled today by men and women of God who paraded down a clergy catwalk.

Five vicars showed off the new designs in ecclesiastical wear, which are made in the different colours which are worn according to the season in the Church's calendar.

Hundreds of clergy jostled for a place on the show's front row as the group revealed cutting-edge bespoke vestments in bright colours.

Crucifixes and cross neckwear were also on show, along with a capsule collection of 'leisure pieces' for the busy vicar.

The clergy catwalk featured at the Christian Resources Exhibition in Bristol, a two-day event showcasing every item needed by clergy - from candles to wine.

Bling or blasphemy? Upside-down and sideways crosses showing up in fashion

From Tennessee-

Fashion has taken an evil twist.

Or has it?

In celebrity circles and for some big-city fashionistas, inverted or horizontal crosses worn as jewelry or imprinted on clothing are turning heads (but not spinning them, a la "The Exorcist"). While some folks view the trend as anti-Christian, others say it's just the opposite.

"The upside-down cross doesn't bother me much," says local musician Jimmy Tawater, who was raised in an Episcopal church and still attends St. Martin's Episcopal Church on East Brainerd Road. "It was St. Peter's request that he be crucified upside down for he did not feel worthy to suffer in the same manner as his Lord."

Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Paris Jackson, daughter of the late Michael Jackson, have been photographed wearing inverted crosses on their clothing.

The Rev. Greg Ezell, an ordained minister in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, says he's not offended by the cross fashion trend.
