Yesterday was the 90th birthday of J. D. Salinger one of my favorite authors. Although best known for the coming of age story "Catcher In The Rye", I think his best book (which is really two long short stories) is Franny and Zooey". This book is about prayer and where it is that we really find Jesus. A good friend of mine decided that he was going to become a priest after reading it. Also worth your time is "Nine Stories" which is exactly what it sounds like.He's been reclusive but writing for decades and hasn't published anything since the early sixties.
